We will discuss the hyperbolicity of a very general element of a complete linear system on an abelian variety, and provide counterparts to some classical results concerning very general hypersurfaces in projective spaces. The main actor of the talk will be a constant associated with any polarized abelian variety (A, L), which detects information about the hyperbolicity of |L|.
