Mediterranean Youth Mathematical Championship (MYMC), 2016
Rome, July 20-23, 2016
A competition for high school students to encourage interest in mathematics
The aim of the MYMC is to bring together Mediterranean youth with different backgrounds through their shared passion for mathematics, with a special emphasis on gender equity. It is our hope that participants build long-lasting connections leading to greater understanding among the different cultures within the Mediterranean area.
The third edition of the MYMC will take place in Rome, Italy, on July 20-23, 2016. Sixteen countries have already enrolled: Albania, Algeria, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, France, Greece, Italy, Lebanon, Morocco, Palestine, Slovenia, Spain, Tunisia, Turkey. Each team consists of 4 participants, 2 male and 2 female, currently enrolled in their final three years of high school and at most nineteen years old. Grants offered by the organizers support all the participation costs of the 4 students plus 1 chaperon. English is the working language of the championship.
The day before the beginning of the competition, the Turkish team communicated that they could not take part to the MYMC 2016: given the dramatic situation in Turkey, the team was not allowed to leave the country.
