The Director of the Department is the pro-tempore representative of the Department, presides over the Council and the Board and sets the agenda for their meetings.

The Director sees to the execution of the resolutions of the Council and the Board; with the collaboration of the Board, he promotes the Department's activities; he supervises the observance of the laws, the Statute and the regulations within the Department; he maintains relations with the academic bodies and external institutions; he exercises all the other powers assigned to him by the laws, the Statute and the regulations (see art. 4 of the Regulations).
