We consider Galton Watson branching processes of unique type and multi-type in fixed and in random environment. The main target is to observe the asymptotic behaviour of the survival probability of the population. In particular, we utilise the generating function method thanks to the recursive structure of the process in deterministic case and condition to the generating function of offspring distribution in random case.
