The Stochastic Sandpile Model is an interacting particle system introduced in the physics literature to study the mechanism of self-organized criticality. This model undergoes a phase transition when the initial particle density exceeds a critical threshold, raising important questions about the critical density. This talk provides an overview of the model and the known results, showing that the system exhibits a non-trivial phase transition.
