We consider an elliptic regularization of the classical Perona-Malik functional. After a suitable rescaling we compute the Gamma-limit of the functional for vanishing singular parameter. We analize the gradient dynamics corresponding to the Gamma-limit and obtain some results concerning the convergence of the dynamic of the regularized functional to the dynamic of the Gamma-limit.
