Some results on a simple model of kinetic theory
In 1955, Mark Kac introduced a simple model to study the evolution of a gas of particles undergoing pairwise collisions. Although extremely simplified to be rigorously treatable, the model maintains interesting aspects of gas dynamics. In recent years, we worked to extend the analysis to more "realistic" versions of the original model. I will introduce the Kac model and present some standard and more recent results. These results refer to a system with a fixed number of particles and at fixed kinetic energy (micro canonical ensemble) or temperature (canonical ensemble). I will introduce a "Grand Canonical" version of the Kac system and discuss new results on it. Ci sara' la possibilita' di seguire il seminario in remoto, cliccando sul seguente link

Lagrangian fibrations on hyper-Kähler fourfolds
We will present joint work with Olivier Debarre, Daniel Huybrechts and Claire Voisin on the SYZ hyper-Kähler conjecture for fourfolds under certain topological assumptions. As application, this proves a conjecture by O'Grady that a hyper-Kähler fourfold whose cohomology ring is isomorphic to the one of the Hilbert square of a K3 surface is a deformation of a Hilbert square. On the convergence rate for the optimal control of McKean-Vlasov dynamics
In this talk I will report on a joint work with S. Daudin (Paris Dauphine), Joe Jackson (U. Texas) and P. Souganidis (U. Chicago). We are interested in  the convergence problem for the optimal control of McKean-Vlasov dynamics, also known as mean field control. We establish an algebraic rate of convergence of the value functions of N-particle stochastic control problems towards the value function of the corresponding McKean-Vlasov problem. This convergence rate is established in the presence of both idiosyncratic and common noise, and in a setting where the value function for the McKean-Vlasov problem need not be smooth. Our approach relies crucially on Lipschitz and semi-concavity estimates, uniform in N, for the N-particle value functions, as well as a certain concentration inequality. Nilpotent orbits arising from admissible affine vertex algebras
In this talk, I will give a simple description of the closure of the nilpotent orbits appearing as associated varieties of admissible affine vertex algebras in terms of primitive ideals. I will also connect these varieties with the cohomology of the small quantum groups associated with an l-th root of unity. This is a joint work with Tomoyuki Arakawa and Jethro van Ekeren.

Weyl chambers and Geometric Invariant Theory
Given an embedding of complex reductive Lie groups L in G, which irreducible finite dimensional representations of G admit L-invariant vectors? The motivation and methods for the study of this question stem from its many interpretations in various contexts, such as Geometric Invariant Theory on flag varieties, momentum maps and coadjoint orbits, Schubert calculus and combinatorics. A development started by Heckman in the 1980's and culminating with Ressayre's work in 2010 provides a description of the generalized Littlewood-Richardson cone, an object capturing the desired representations in an asymptotic sense, by a set of inequalities derived from the Hilbert-Mumford criterion. The exact implementation of these powerful qualitative results remains difficult and case dependent, prompting research for a better understanding of the relevant structures. In this talk I shall address the question: how much can one say only from the isomorphism types of the two groups? An answer is obtained by compiling all of Ressayre's inequalities into one inequality between two numerical invariants of L and G, respectively. Geometrically, this is reflected in properties of L-unstable loci and GIT-quotients of flag varieties of G. I shall also comment on properties of embeddings and the data relevant for exact calculations.

On the structure of Gorenstein ideals of codimension 4.
I will discuss the new approach to Gorenstein ideals of codimension 4, with n generators. This allows us to construct (by a single calculation, starting from scratch.) the examples of such ideals with \(4\leq n\leq 8\) generators. For \(n=4,5,6\) they give generic models of resolutions of ideals of that type (in the sense that each such resolution comes from the generic model). We conjecture that for \(n=7,8\) these resolutions are also generic models. The main idea is a construction of a certain generic ring which has unexpected symmetry of the type \(E_n\). For \(n\geq 9\) such construction is not possible which indicates that the classification is much more difficult.

On the Hilbert scheme of two points of degeneracy loci
Given a smooth projective variety, its Hilbert scheme of two points often enjoys a rich structure and a beautiful geometry. The construction is very classical, but it is quite difficult to obtain explicit descriptions. In this talk we will focus on certain varieties realized as degeneracy loci, and we will provide a natural embedding of their Hilb2 in a product of grassmannians. This is a joint work in progress with E. Fatighenti, G. Mongardi and A. T. Ricolfi.
