The topology of positive scalar curvature
Geometry and topology are often closely connected: the classical Gauss-Bonnet theorem implies that the only closed surfaces which admits a Riemannian metric of positive (scalar) curvature are the 2-sphere and the real projective plane. Surprisingly, similar constraints hold for higher dimensional manifolds. Most of these use spin geometry and the spectral theory of the Dirac operator. To make efficient use of these, operator algebras and their K-theory are applied, as well. The lecture course (comprising 8 meetings of 2 hours each) will introduce the relevant techniques and show how they are applied. We will advance to the modern approaches, current lines of attack and open problems of todays research. The first meeting will give a survey which present the main results we want to discuss in the lecture course. The following meetings will then concentrate on details of the methods. It is planned to give the course in Italian, but is open to be changed to English if this suits the audience better. From March 8 to March 31, Monday 11.15 Aula II, Wednesday 15.30 Aula Picone.

Generalized Pauli constraints: an introduction and the many-particle limit
*** SI NOTINO il giorno e l'ora inusuali *** This talk is about fermionic quantum states, and how they are restricted 'beyond the Pauli principle'. I will provide an introduction to the concept of generalized Pauli constraints, and will discuss why these might be of interest to physics. I will also discuss the limit of a large number of fermions.

Non commutative cluster coordinates for Higher Teichmüller Spaces
In higher Teichmuller theory we study subsets of the character varieties of surface groups that are higher rank analogs of Teichmuller spaces, e.g. the Hitchin components and the spaces of maximal representations. Fock-Goncharov generalized Thurston's shear coordinates and Penner's Lambda-lengths to the Hitchin components, showing that they have a beautiful structure of cluster variety. Here we apply similar ideas to Maximal Representations and we find new coordinates on these spaces that give them a structure of non-commutative cluster varieties, in the sense defined by Berenstein-Rethak. This is joint work with Guichard, Rogozinnikov and Wienhard.

Solvable systems of nonlinear ODEs
After a terse discussion of the various possible significances of the term 'solvable', I will review a few recent results concerning systems of nonlinear Ordinary Differential Equations, such as special cases of the prototypical system of two variables whose time-derivative is expressed by a polynomial of degree two and of analogous systems mainly featuring polynomial right-hand sides and few dependent variables.

New blow up phenomena for the Nirenberg's problem on half spheres
In this talk I will report on   a refined blow up analysis of  finite  energy approximated solutions to the Nirenberg's problem on half  spheres. The later   consists of prescribing under minimal boundary  conditions the scalar curvature to be a given function. In particular  we give a precise location of blow up points and blow up rates. Such  an analysis shows that the blow up picture of the Nirenberg's problem  on half spheres is far more complicated that in the case of closed  spheres. Indeed besides the combination of interior and boundary blow  ups, there are "non simples blow ups"  for subcritical solutions  having zero or  nonzero weak limit. The formation  of such  non simple  blow ups is governed by a vortex problem, unveiling an  unexpected  connection with  Euler equations in fluid dynamic and mean fields type  equations in mathematical physics. This is joint work with Mohamed Ben Ayed (Sfax University).

Toward a denotational semantics for proofs in constructive modal logic
Constructive modal logics are extensions of intuitionistic propositional logic with certain modal axioms. Many proof systems are known for these logics, but the only available denotational semantics is defined by means of an abstract construction, based on the quotient of their lambda terms. The general aim of our work is to define a game semantics for constructive modal logics. In this talk, I will define the winning strategies for a formula and show the correspondence between winning strategies and proofs. I will show how winning strategies can be defined as the projection of specific paths in a graphical proof system defined for this purpose - combinatorial proofs. (This talk is based on joint work with Matteo Acclavio and Lutz Straßburger)

Ideals of subspace arrangements and representation theory
I'll discuss results linking the study of certain highly symmetric arrangements of linear subspaces in affine space to representation theory, describing how to obtain qualitative information (e.g., is the arrangement Cohen-Macaulay?) and quantitative information (e.g., what is the Hilbert series of the ideal of the arrangement?) using techniques from the representation theory of Cherednik algebras.
