A rigidity theorem for an overdetermined problem
On a bounded simply connected domain of RN, consider the Laplacian eigenvalue problem with overdetermined boundary conditions, where both constant Dirichlet and zero Neumann boundary are prescribed. This overdetermined problem admits a solution for instance in a disc, as can be seen by considering Neumann radial eigenfunctions. A conjecture due to Schiffer states that the ball is in fact the only possible domain where such problem can be solved. In dimension three, this rigidity theorem has recently been obtained by Ramm, but remains open in other dimensions. In this talk we will discuss this type of overdetermined condition in dimension two for a general semilinear problem. We show that a rigidity theorem holds if in addition some higher normal derivatives are constant along the boundary. This is a joint work with Bernd Kawohl (University of Cologne).

Polystability of the tangent sheaf of singular varieties and applications
If X is a compact Kähler manifold, then the existence of a Kähler-Einstein metric on X yields a lot of interesting properties for the tangent bundle TX, among which stability, Chern numbers inequalities or vanishing/parallelism of holomorphic tensors. I will explain how to generalize these results to singular varieties in a suitable sense. This relies partially on joint works with B. Taji and D. Greb & S. Kebekus.

Orbital degeneracy loci
In a joint project with Vladimiro Benedetti, Sara Angela Filippini, and Laurent Manivel, we introduce a new class of varieties, called orbital degeneracy loci. They are modelled on any orbit closure in a representation of an algebraic group and generalize classical degeneracy loci of morphisms between vector bundles or zero loci of sections. In this talk I will introduce some tools to understand and study this new class of objects; with such techniques, we can exploit our construction to produce several interesting examples of projective varieties, in particular varieties with trivial or negative canonical bundle.
