When Maz'ya meets Choquet
Maz'ya's trace inequalities allows one to characterize solutions of an equation,
involving an operator like the divergence or the Laplacian, having certain
properties such as continuity.
They can also be used to establish an equivalence between capacity and Hausdorff
content. Using the sublinearity of the Choquet integral, one then gets strong
capacitary inequalities which yield the domination of a signed smooth function
by a nonnegative smooth function, with control on the L1 norm of high
order derivatives. Such a property does not seem to be obtainable by mere
composition with smooth truncations.

Computational methods for the solution of biomagnetic inverse problems
Magnetoencephalography (MEG) and Electroencephalography (EEG) measure in a
non-invasive way the magnetic field and the electrical potential, respectively,
induced by cerebral activity.
These instruments have an outstanding temporal resolution and the recorded data
could provide interesting insights of the dynamics of neural currents.
Unfortunately, in order to get reliable information on the unknown neural currents
from the data, we need to solve a ill-posed inverse problem: the operator involved
in the formulation of the model linking the neural activity and the measured data
is such that the solution of the inversion problem is not unique and does not
depend continuously on the data. Furthermore, the data are affected by a high
level of noise. For these reasons, sophisticated mathematical tools are required
to regularize the solution and properly reconstruct the underlying brain activity
from the MEG and EEG measurements.
In this talk I will present some results obtained with a regularization method
based on random sampling for the solution of the MEG/EEG inverse problems.

The 1-harmonic flow
The 1-harmonic flow is the formal gradient flow -with respect
to the L2-distance- of the total variation of a manifold-valued
unknown function. The problem originates from image processing and has an
intrinsic analytical interest as prototype of constrained and
vector-valued evolution equations in BV-spaces. For the resulting PDE, I
will introduce a notion of solution and I will discuss existence and
uniqueness results for two specific manifolds: the hyper-octant of an
N-dimensional sphere and a connected sub-arc of a regular Jordan curve. I
will also present possible extensions to general manifolds, together with
related open questions and conjectures.
Based on joint works with Agnese Di Castro, José Mazon and Salvador Moll.

Quasi-periodic solutions for quasilinear generalized KdV equations
We prove the existence of Cantor families of small amplitude, linearly stable,
quasi-periodic solutions of quasi-linear autonomous Hamiltonian generalized KdV
equations. We consider the most general quasi-linear quadratic nonlinearity.
The proof is based on an iterative Nash-Moser algorithm. To initialize this scheme,
we need to perform a bifurcation analysis taking into account the strongly
perturbative effects of the nonlinearity near the origin. In particular, we
implement a weak version of the Birkhoff normal form method. The inversion of
the linearized operators at each step of the iteration is achieved by
pseudo-differential techniques, linear Birkhoff normal form algorithms
and a linear KAM reducibility scheme.

Stochastic Ising model with fast decreasing temperature
In the regime of temperature fast decreasing to zero, results on the stochastic
Ising models are presented. A k-dynamics allowing to flip sets of k spins at the
same time is also introduced showing that the behavior of the models deeply
depends on this parameter. For these models we follow the classification of
Gandolfi, Newman, Stein (2000), i.e. a model is of type F if any spin flips
finitely many times a.s., it is of type I if any spin flips infinitely many
times a.s., or it is of type M otherwise.
Conditions to obtain models of type F, I, or M and examples are discussed.

metodi propri dell'algebra commutativa, di curve a singolarità
'prescritte'.

Connettivi generalizzati in Logica Lineare Moltiplicativa
This talk addresses the following questions:
1) what is a generalized (n-ary) connective of the multiplicative
fragment of linear logic (MLL)?
2) are there generalized connectives that cannot be defined by those
primitive binary ones (Tensor and Par)?
3) is there a way to sequentialize proof-nets containing two
orthogonal generalized non binary-definable conclusions X,Xperp?
