aperto a tutti.

A quiver is a basic combinatorial object, consisting of vertices and arrows between them. A quiver
defines in an obvious way a category. So, given a quiver Q and an abelian category A, one may
investigate representations of Q in the category A, i.e., functors from the category assigned to Q
to A. The best studied case is when A is the category of finite dimensional vector spaces over a
field k. Classification problems for quiver representations include the problem of the Jordan normal
form as well as the representation theory of finite dimensional kalgebras. If A is the category of
coherent sheaves over, say, a complex projective manifold X, one arrives at the notion of a quiver
sheaf. (In fact, there is a twist to this, in the literal sense of the word.) Famous examples of
(twisted) quiver sheaves are Higgs bundles. They are associated with the quiver Q consisting of one
vertex and one arrow joining that vertex to itself. In the talk, we will briefly review the language
of quivers, representations of quivers in the category of finite dimensional vector spaces, and
their moduli spaces. Then, we will survey various results on (twisted) quiver sheaves. We plan to
address (some of) the following topics: semistability and moduli spaces, geometry of moduli spaces,
topology of moduli spaces of Higgs bundles.

There are two natural ways to construct random elements in a finitely generated group: one can
either take an element uniformly in a big ball, or follow a random walk during a long time. The
first process is more related to the geometry of the group, while the second one is much easier to
implement from a computational point of view. It is therefore desirable to construct specific random
walks for which the two processes give essentially the same result. I will explain why, in a large
class of groups (called hyperbolic groups), this is in general impossible.

We study the influence of a compactly supported magnetic field on spectral-threshold properties of
the Schroedinger operator and the large-time behaviour of the associated heat semigroup. We derive
new magnetic Hardy inequalities in any space dimension d and develop the method of self-similar
variables and weighted Sobolev spaces for the heat equation. A careful analysis of the heat equation
in the self-similar variables shows that the magnetic field asymptotically degenerates to a singular
Aharonov-Bohm magnetic field, which in turn determines the large-time behaviour of the solutions in
the physical variables. We deduce that in d=2 there is an improvement of the decay rate of the heat
semigroup by a polynomial factor with power proportional to the distance of the total magnetic flux
to the discrete set of flux quanta, while there is no extra polynomial decay rate in higher
dimensions.

Control, Dynamics and PDE's
We construct a small time strong solution of a nonlocal Hamilton-Jacobi equation introduced by
Lions, the so-called master equation, which finds its origins in the theory of Mean Field Games. As
a consequence we prove the existence of a Nash equilibrium for a game with a continuum of players,
called non-atomic game by R. J. Aumann and L. S. Shapley. (This is a joint work with A. Swiech).
