The quasi-ergodic hypothesis, proposed by Ehrenfest and Birkhoff, says that a typical Hamiltonian
system of n degrees of freedom on a typical energy surface has a dense orbit. This question is wide
open. In this talk I will explain a recent result by V. Kaloshin and myself which can be seen as a
weak form of the quasi-ergodic hypothesis. We prove that a dense set of perturbations of integrable
Hamiltonian systems of two and a half degrees of freedom possess orbits which accumulate in sets of
positive measure. In particular, they accumulate in prescribed sets of KAM tori.

Non-relativistic interacting bosons at zero temperature exhibit two interesting critical phases: the
celebrated condensate phase and the critical theory at zero density, known as *quantum critical
point*. From a theoretical point of view these theories are particularly challenging in dimension
two, which is in both cases critical in the sense of Renormalization Group (RG). This is *the*
method for understanding from first principles the emergence of scaling laws in interacting many
body systems at low or zero temperatures, as well as for computing thermodynamic and correlation
functions. In collaboration with A. Giuliani we proved renormalizability of the quantum critical
point and of the condensed phase in two dimensions, both in the ultraviolet and in the infrared, and
developed a theory valid at all orders in renormalized perturbation theory, with explicit bounds on
the generic order. In this talk I will present these results and compare them with the existing
literature. While the results obtained for the quantum critical case match with previous ones and
extend them to all orders, we think that our findings call into question the stability of the two
dimensional condensate at zero temperature.

I will introduce the notion of Òlimit solutionÓ for nonlinear o.d.e.'s where a control u is present
together its time derivative. The control u is allowed to be a discontinuous integrable function,so
that its derivative gives the system an impulsive character. Limit solutions subsume the main former
notions of solution for systems with "generalized" controls. Successively I will address the
question whether or not a minimum problem connected with limit solutions is a proper extension of
the minimum problem associated with regular solutions. We shall see that in general the answer is
negative: this means that a gap can occur between the infimum values of the two problems. Finally, I
will present a geometrical condition, here called Òquick reachabilityÓ, which proves to be
sufficient to avoid such gaps.

Seminario di Analisi e Sistemi Dinamici
We will review applications of the homogenization of Lagrangian spectral invariants in cotangent
bundle as studied in joint work with Monzner and Zapolsky. This can be seen as an extension of
Viterbo's "symplectic homogenization" process in the cotangent bundle of tori. We will present
some applications to symplectic topology and dynamics (Aubry Mather theory).

A ogni piastrellamento è

We will extend the fundational result of Mather about the existence of invariant mesures with
rotation vector prescribed by the subdifferential of the effective Hamiltonian. This can be done by
replacing the effective hamiltonian by the symplectic homegenization. We will finish by some
applications in the context of classical KAM theory.
