WHEN YOU ARRIVE
To live in Rome you need, in this order, the following documents:
- ERASMUS STUDENT CARD (obtained when
you register with Dr. Simona Romano)
- CODICE FISCALE
- HEALTH INSURANCE

The Codice Fiscale is a personal number for tax purposes that you need
to live in Italy; it is required to open a bank account, to obtain the

or
"Municipi locali" are the 19 Municipalities in which Rome is
divided,
numbered with roman numbers; ask yours to your landlord. If you find
difficulties, do not panic: you can try to go to any one. The easiest to
reach is the first one, near Viale Trastevere.

One of the following possibility should apply to you:
- You are covered by the national Health Service in your own country and you
have to present the European Health Insurance Card
upon arrival (this replaces the old forms E111 or E128). This card
simplifies the procedure when receiving medical assistance and allows to
receive health care in accordance with the legislation of State of stay.
- You are covered by a private insurance in your country of origin and
upon arrival you have to present an official translation made at the
Italian Consulate or Embassy in the Country of origin, together with the
declaration of the Italian Consulate that such an insurance will cover you
in Italy in a form equivalent to the cover given by the European Health
I>nsurance Card.
- You will take the special Insurance scheme, worked out for Erasmus
students coming to our University, with INA-ASSITALIA Insurance Company
As foreigners living in Roma, you have to register with the local Police
for a residence permit.
If you are EU citizen ask for a
Residence Card,
at the
Municipio of the district where you live (Iscrizione anagrafica).
If you are a non EU citizen you have to apply for a
Residence permit
at
the Police station placed in the Campus. You will need proof of your
status as an Erasmus student; a copy of your Erasmus student card will be
requested. This should be done within 8 days after the arrival.
If your documents are lost or stolen, you should contact the offices of
the "Questura" or "Carabinieri" in the district where you live.
