PortableLatex tgz package
If
you are running another flavour of Linux (Debian, Slackware, etc...)
you can taste this package I've done trying to mimick Slax portability
by the use of environment variables. Just:
- Download it
- Extract it anywhere (usb, hard drive, ramdisk, or burn it onto a CD)
- Mount the .ext2 image anywhere as readonly. (see README for help)
- In a virtual console, run the script environment.sh located in the mountpoint you've just created.
- Now,
from that very console, you can do anything just as though you
installed all the goodies: launch tetex, jedit, etc... (see the readme
included in the package itself). Moreover, each virtual console window
spawned by that one (e.g. by the command "xterm &") will behave
this way.
